My conchs are bigger than yours.....

We want to line our wedding aisle with big gorgeous conch shells and we have had a hard time finding the ones we want in Florida. The Florida conchs are smaller, not pink, and cost 20 bucks a piece in the KEYS. (Look in the post before this one for a pic of the Florida style conchs)

When we saw these in the Bahamas we had to have them.....22 of them at $5 bucks a piece. WTF???? They are PINK and I love them.

It was hilarious carrying that many to the cruise ship... Amazing Race style. We had 30 minutes to get off the ship, buy them, and get back on the boat with super heavy conch.

We did run into some problems at the U.S. border...we were detained for over an hour.

We had too many and it was considered intent to sell. They were tired of looking at us an had bigger "smuggling" concerns at the time.

So we have the shells and a great story to tell.

We have decided on the KEYS
Loper and I went to the KEYS this weekend to check out some wedding locations. Although we have not made our official choice, below is one of the ballrooms that I loved. I will share more when we make our minds up. If you have any suggestions for locations in KEY LARGO...email me at Randi@buzz103.com

I FOUND MOUNDS OF SHELLS AND BUOYS IN THE KEYS AND HAD TO SHARE.

80's kids...do you remember......
McDonald's Happy meal toys in OCTOBER?? My sister and I couldn't wait to get our hands on one of the three rotating pails. They were highly coveted in the Rasar household and still would be if they made them. It all happened in 1986...I was 5 and already begging for my first McBoo pail.
Every year they would make minor changes to the 3 pails Micky D's offered. At first all three buckets were jack-o-lanterns with different faces. Then they decided to substitute two jack-o-lanterns with a ghost and a witch. I was excited by the change, but not as excited as when I got my little hands on the very first glow in the dark ghost pail. Sadly they made their last Halloween appearance in 2003.....tear. Now my kids will never know the happiness of the McBoo Pail.
For the complete history of the Halloween pails check out this random person's website:SydLexia

JAILBAIT
I feel like this guy is begging to be arrested in Palm Beach County! I drive by this guys house all the time and he's always surprising me with new signage. Today there were 2 signs. Dang...2 signs?? He also spray painted a similar message on his wooden fence and then underlined it today. The same guy has a lawn chair and a gas can on his roof. WTF?
I'll make sure to update my blog with his bizarre signage.
UPDATE: Here is one he wrote on a light pole.UPDATE: The fence signage I promised....WTF?

My new favorite hobby......
SNORKELING......
Swimming with hundreds of tropical fish while they dart all around your body is an amazing feeling.
I have seen so many cool underwater sights! I was snorkeling near Peanut Island when I saw a huge dark mass coming towards me. My natural reaction...SHARK!!! It turned out to be one of the biggest/sweetest manatee's I've ever seen.

I learned how to pet a jellyfish while it was swimming by my face. I actually touched a few and never got stung. Then I was picking up hermit crabs and starfish and playing with them underwater too.

I'm so into snorkeling that I purchased a $100 dollar mask and a $40 dollar snorkel tube. I always borrowed or rented equipment when I went under the sea.....but swapping spit with everyone who rented them was FREAKING SICK!!

Bob Saget
DANNY TANNER...was the coolest. He gets a bad rap in the comedic world, but I really enjoyed it.He was in the studio for a few hours on Friday and then I saw him at the Palm Beach Improv on Sat. He was a lot different at his show....we have a lil' something lame called the FCC.

Oh yeah, I made Bob give me some dirt on his upcoming guest role on "Entourage." This will be his second appearance on the HBO hit. "E"(Kevin Conally) is vying for the chance to sign him at his new agency. E IS NOT WORKING WITH OR FOR ARI GOLD.......I asked him. Anyway,Bob Saget walks into a business meeting with a Russian hooker or two.

Below is a clip of our show......Bob wanted to call his BFF, John Stamos. Why would we say no to that?

Getting Married?
My best friend's mom handmade her wedding garter(s). Yes, she made two beautiful garters..one to keep and one to throw. I took a look at those gorgeous thigh bracelets and said..."No way can you let some drunk guy at your wedding keep it."When I decide to get married I want her (Donna Thomsen) to make my garters! She can make them in all sorts of colors and textures....lace...satin...silk. Plus your initials....beads...small bows..and any other details you want.IF YOU WANT ONE.....email Donna here:dthomsen19@yahoo.com

HYPERCOLOR IS BACK BITCHES!!
OMG!!!! Remember HYPER-COLOR shirts?(picture found @ http://www.nostalgiaholic.com/)

They would change colors when your body temperature would heat up. Mine was pink and it would change to white when I played outside in the 80's.

I looked all over the web and found out they contained a thermochromic (temperature sensitive) pigment made by MatsuiShikiso Chemical of Japan, that changed between two colors–one when cold, one when warm. The shirts were produced with several color change choices from the late 1980s until the early 1990s.- source: Wikipedia

I LIKE THIS GUY:
Mr. KenjiMatsui had a keen eye for color and used that talent in the manufacturing of raw materials for the paint industry. In 1923 Mr. Matsui founded MatsuiShikiso Chemical LTD. His fascination with color and his passion for development soon resulted in expansion into the manufacturing of crayons in 1948 and ultimately led to the manufacturing of pigments and dyes for the textile industry in 1950. -source:http://www.unimarkusa.com/
I thought it was the coolest thing and it was another fad in HISTORY...until I saw something similar on the AMERICAN APPAREL website.
Here's what they say about the shirts on their website:
Our ultralight Sheer Jersey T-shirt, made with a temperature sensitive pigment that changes between two colors - one when cold, one when warm. They come in 5 different shades and only cost 28 bucks!

Real Willy Wonka kid......
Remember when Augustus Gloop fell into the Chocolate River? Well, a 29 year old did the same thing yesterday and we finally found out what happens when you drown in chocolate...you die.
Those aren't nuts in your Hershey's bar....that's Vincent Smith the II!!

Here's the story from cnn.com:

An employee at a New Jersey chocolate processing plant died Wednesday after falling into a vat of hot chocolate, according to a spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's office.
Vincent Smith II, 29, was dumping raw chocolate into the vat for melting when he fell in from a nine-foot high platform. He suffered a fatal blow to the head from the vat's agitator, a paddle-like mechanism used for stirring the chocolate.
According to the Camden County prosecutor's office, three other people were on the platform at the time. One was able to shut the machinery off quickly, but it was too late to save Smith.
The facility, owned by Cocoa Services Inc., is managed and operated by by Lyons and Sons.
The rectangular vat, which was 8 feet deep, 14 feet long and 6 feet wide, was churning a batch of chocolate for Hershey's when the accident occurred, the prosecutor's office said.

Wedding gift idea
I attended my best friend's wedding this weekend and it was awesome...I can't wait to blog about the details.
I was debating for months what to get that special duo in my life, but I think I came up with a pretty good gift. I didn't want to get the couple anything normal...A.K.A. what they wanted. I wanted them to be surprised and get something fun to play with. The bride is my best friend, Lauren and I know she likes grown-up toys. So I found a pretty cool waterproof camera/camcorder that they could take on their honeymoon.

They also love to travel so I thought cool Passport covers were in order....with a traveler's check of course. Dub likes natural mellow colors and Lauren loves bright exciting colors.....thank goodness I found something for both.

PINK & TENN
I was shocked to see these PINK University Of Tennessee pj's. Especially in Florida! The lady told me they were sent to West Palm Beach by mistake.....cool!
It's the new collegiate PINK line.

They offer many schools in Florida too:

Florida State

FAMU

University of Florida

University of Miami

University of South Florida

University of Central Florida

Did you know Juicy Couture tried suing Victoria Secret in 2008 for having similar marketing on the seat of their sweatpants?

Did you know Juicy Couture is a Liz Claiborne company?

KEY LARGO
I went to the Keys this past weekend because it's only two hours away. Well, Key Largo that is. Key West was 3 more hours away so I decided to stay in Key Largo. Plus, the awesome song by the Beach Boys, "Kokomo" states that Key Largo is one of the many tropical places you can get away from it all.
Key Largo at sunset!!
The key's rule because you can see the sunrise on the East and then at night walk over to the West and see the sunset.

I found some great places while I was there and some items too!!
The seahorse necklace was a really cool find at a local consignment shop. It was handcrafted for someone special in the keys, Sterling silver, & it's the only one on earth! I bought the necklace for 20 bucks and could not believe it. It was such a great deal and unique too! The same store had even more amazing things.....pucci bathing suits, prada sunglasses, tons of vintage clothing, jewelry, and furniture.

Mr. C's Gourmet Italian was the best tasting ICE I have ever had. The flavors were tropical and very fresh. I went with the strawberry/mango and went back the next day for another!!
This is me as an average ice cream cone. I didn't try one of these waffle ice cream concoctions....have you ever seen this?

BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN:
I kept passing the little diner below and every time I did I was more intrigued to find out what was inside. I found Real Olen Mills family pics hanging on the walls, family keepsakes, talkative locals, & breakfast smells all day long. They have been in business for 27 years sering locals and visitors delicious meals.

I met my GWENY!!

No Doubt played West Palm Beach July 3rd and I was lucky enough to meet them. It was such a cool show and I never thought I would get the chance to see them preform. I have been a huge fan since I bought my little sister the "Tragic Kingdom" cassette tape for her birthday. Lauren and I loved and identified with their hit song, "I'm Just a girl" for obvious reasons. My dad is a huge fan too.... it's a family affair.

"HELLA GOOD"

I did manage to get in trouble at the No Doubt concert....shocking I know. I was instructed not to take any pictures of Gwen and the boys. Of course I could not contain myself and the minute I saw her my paparazzi skills kicked in. I took one picture before being reprimanded by her wranglers. The over sized dude said the band would get mad at him because he didn't warn me. So the minute I got to talk to them I told Gwen that the over sized dude did tell me but I couldn't resist. She was cool and we started talking about her L.A.M.B. clothing line and she told me she had the same sunglasses as me. Right on Gweny!!!
She made two outfit changes during the show and I was very happy Gwen opened wearing her tomboy attire. She wore her infamous wife beater, lime green bra, and of course a pair of pants 3 sizes too big for her.
Below is the second outfit and I'm in love with it!! It reminds me of her L.A.M.B. clothing line which I adore.

Cool rain shoes
TORY JELLIES..................These are a way better option than crocs.....because I think crocs are ugly. They have ventilation holes for rain showers and your footsies won't stink. I love the molded jelly Tory Burch logo and the bold candy colors they come in. I'm thinking of the yellow pair and they are perfect for South Florida's tropical weather. Yeah....bring on those daily 3:00pm rain clouds!

I love my......
SUNGLASSES
I just picked up a copy of US magazine and saw their list of "summer sunglasses". My Prada Butterfly glasses made the list.....although, I've had them for a while. I got my pair locally at my friend Alan's shop...Shades of Time. Check it out online: http://www.shadesoftimeonline.com/
You can also get them at www.Nordstroms.com

Biggest Treat
This is the biggest Rice KrispyTreat Ive ever seen!! You can buy them for parties and cut them up like you made them from scratch. Is that evil? They are called Treat Sheats and I found them at a local candy store.

Locally in West Palm Beach:
Sloans website: http://www.sloansonline.com/
It's kinda lame right now.....just states locations.
Online:
http://www.amazon.com/ They have them in a big-ass 2 pack for $22.68
The delicious buttery treat was invented in the 1930's by Mildred Day and other staff members at Kellogg Co. They concocted it originally for a fund-raising event geared towards a girls camp fire group.
Too bad SMORES = CAMPFIRE TREATSKelloggs.
I will take a Rice Krispy Treat any day and enjoy every bite! Fact.
I WANT ONE NOW!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watch yourself
I WANT A YELLOW OR GREEN ONE...OR MAYBE A WHITE ONE.
I was watch shopping for my friend's (Loper) birthday when I found these in Nordstroms. It was like a colorful carnival in the jewelry case.....I wanted to take them all home with me. They come in six stellar colors and only cost $60 bucks. I was on a Birthday present mission and had to slap myself just to walk away from the counter. I know they are colorful like candy but I'm thinking equally addictive too. I just need motivation to walk back into the mall for something else I really don't need.....just want badly.
Get the watch here....www.nordstroms.com
UPDATE: I found more options than the colors above when I was looking around online.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brazilets
BRAZILETS.......I have spotted them on two Laurens' so far....my 24-year-old sister and Lauren Conrad (The Hills). Dang, I have LC gossip @ the end of this post.

The bracelets only cost $5 bucks and the money helps preserve the Brazilian rain forests.
My sister said that you wrap it around your wrist twice and have someone tie it on using 3 knots. Each knot represents a wish...you get 3.I know you can get them here.....www.shopintuition.com
THE HILLS......just in case you keep up:
Kristin Cavallari is replacing Lauren Conrad on The Hills.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COLDPLAY
The Coldplay tour, "VIVA LA VIDA" kicked off last night in West Palm Beach. This was the British band's third tour for their fourth album, "Viva La Vida." It was the coolest concert I have ever witnessed because it was full of visual effects. They dropped paper butterflies all over the audience and big yellow balloons filled with confetti started to float into the crowd.
Check out the video I took below. Chris pops a confetti balloon at the end and it's pretty rad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEGO SUNGLASSES
Yeah, it's true......they made actual LEGO sunglasses.
Lynx Optique (a French optical firm) and LEGO teamed up to create some really crazy looking sunglasses. I personally LOVE LEGOS and remember building all sorts of creative objects that would stay intact for....... like, a day. My mom would make us destroy all of our boldly stacked creations and return them to their infamous red bucket.

JUNK-DRIVE's.......that's what I call them!
Look at this Lego USB Flash drive with 2GB or 4GB. It retails for $25-$35 bucks and comes in 3 different colors.
I think this is a better alternative for me because I can use it everyday at work. I'm constantly saving audio files and my last junk-drive is in shambles. It was a real eraser and it was really cool at first...but, erasers crumble away.

NINJA TOUR 2009
THE NINJA TOUR KICKED OFF IN WEST PALM LAST NIGHT.

Apparently NIN & Jane's Addiction switch as headliners at each venue.
Jane's Addiction was our headliner and it made sense because Perry Ferrell went to high school in Miami. He attended North Miami Beach High School under the name; Perry Bernstein.
I loved Perry Farrell's tight black glitter pants!
Guy-liner extremist, Dave Navarro rocking his white guitar.

Jane's Addiction was in town the entire week soaking up the sun and surfing. Perry was telling the crowd that he saw lots of dudes with big muscles on the beaches and it didn't bother him. It's kinda funny.......watch. Oh and then he goes bananas at the end...FREAKING EXCITING.

How could I end this blog without an appearance from Nine Inch Nails? Check out the video of them rocking out in West Palm Beach last night:

"Head Like a Hole"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My favorite quote.
"Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in one's bath like a lump of sugar."
-Pablo Picasso
Spanish painter who co-founded Cubism (the other dude was..Georges Braque). He lived in Paris when Germany occupied the city and the Nazi's hated his work...GO FIGURE..ha. He was not allowed to show his work anywhere so he just sat in his studio and painted every day.
He died at his home in France entertaining friends and his final last words were:
“Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink any more.”

Another Spanish artist I really adore:Salvador Dali
His work is bizarre and surreal and he loved getting any sort of attention. He was infamous for living in luxury and made more of an impact just showing up with his art work rather than displaying it.
Crazy Cat & Narcissistic Salvador Dali

I know you all enjoyed that freaking cat too.

Backyard pics and PBI facts.
MY BACKYARD.......
I love my view as much as I love my job!
The reason? My view and my job are different every single day. I never know what to expect and that keeps me very interested....which is a hard job. I have the attention span of a monkey in a hat, talking on a banana phone.

I took the picture below yesterday during one of our common afternoon storms. Check out the rainbow.......it's super faint. Also, check out Palm Beach Island!
Another pic from yesterday.....a storm was rolling through!
Close up of the backyard with Lauren
I love when 5 shades of blue make up the intercoastal. Oh, and another one of our afternoon storms skimming Palm Beach Island.
PBI was established by Henry Flagler who was also the founder of standard oil. Palm Beach Island is a barrier island, it's 16 miles long, and has had some crazy residents.
Residents (past and present) include:
Donald Trump, Jimmy Buffett, Kennedy family, Rush Limbaugh, Horace Dodge (Dodge automotive family), Rod Stewart, Vera Wang, and sooo many freaking more! Funny ones too..like the creator of Slim Fast. haha. Not sure why that's funny to me?
OMG...it gets foggy out there too!
At night the water is not much of a view.....but the city rocks!
